Russell J. Dawson

Russell J. Dawson, 73, of Manchester, NJ, died on December 4, 2018 after a short battle with lymphoma. He was born in Irvington, NJ to the late Edward and Bessie Dawson and lived in Middletown before moving to Manchester four years ago. Russell worked for 37 years as a planner in the mechanical department for Conoco Phillips at the Bayway Refinery in Linden, retiring 11 years ago. He enjoyed music and had an extensive vinyl collection. He also enjoyed golfing, computers, and he loved to help his family with new technology. He was an amateur wine maker, and he enjoyed fixing things around the house. Russell was a "jack-of-all-trades". His greatest love was for his family, especially his grandson, Wyatt.

Surviving are his wife, Mary (nee Bonner); his daughter, Eileen Dawson and her partner Sean Stewart; his daughter and son-in-law Tricia and Beau Marois; his son, R.J. Dawson and his fiance, Carly Gibson; his grandson, Wyatt Marois; and his brother, Edward (Ann) Dawson. Also surviving are his four brothers-in-law, Jim (Julie) Bonner, Gene (Bernie) Bonner, Kenneth (Ellen) Bonner, and Mike (Karen) Bonner; two sister-in-laws, Peg (John) Dauber, and Michelle Bonner; and many nieces and nephews.

Russell was preceded in death by three of his grandchildren, Beau, Blake, and Brinley Marois, and two brothers-in-law, Larry Bonner and David Tivald.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 4-8 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, December 10, 2018 at 9:30 am at the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Monday, December 10, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Chapel, 26 Leonardville Rd., Middletown. Burial will follow at 1 pm at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown.
