Victor S. Hando, 86, of Belford, NJ, died on April 4, 2017 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. He was born in McKeesport, PA and lived in Belford for most of his life. Victor worked as a mechanic for Ralph Clayton and Sons Concrete for 12 years until 1996. He also worked for 4 years as a crossing guard in Middletown. He was a member and past Commandant of the Phillip K. Dorn Marine Corps League. He was also a member of the VFW Post 2179 in Port Monmouth were he was a past president; the Korean War Vets; the Chosen Few League; the American Legion Post 338 in Leonardo; and the DAV. Victor was proud to be a Marine Corps Devil Dog.
Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Joan L. Hando; seven sons, Victor, Peter, John, Andrew, Michael, Henry, Nicholas; three daughters, Ann Viesti, Stella Dasilva, Amy Bland; two step-sons, Mark T. Ward and Douglas Ward; 2 step-daughters, Jacqueline Van Zile and Susan Luciano; 34 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Victor was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan M. in 1992 and by his brother, Edward Hando in 2014.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 9, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for 9:30 am on Monday, April 10, 2017 at the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Monday at 10:30 am at St Mary’s Chapel, 26 Leonardville Rd., Middletown. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Manville, NJ.
