Walter L. Colman

Walter L Colman, 90, of Keansburg, NJ, died on November 26, 2018 in Keansburg, NJ. He was born in Germantown, PA and lived in Gibbsboro, NJ and then the Middletown NJ area for 53 years. Walter was a teacher, coach, and the first principal of Keansburg High School. He worked as a senior level administrator for the Keansburg School District for a total of 22 years before retiring in 1990.

Walter played basketball for North Catholic High School (All-Catholic in 1945 and 1946) and LaSalle College in Philadelphia. He was a veteran of the US Marines and served during the Korean War. He later received the John J. McMenamin Award from the Philadelphia Basketball Old Timers Association in recognition of his efforts to promote the game of basketball in the Philadelphia area.

Surviving him are his three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael (Debbie) Colman of Aberdeen, Stephen Colman (Claire) of Red Bank, Vincent (Jean Marie) Colman of Mahwah,NJ, daughters and sons-in-law, Maureen (Patrick) Angelastro of Pennington, Ann Marie (Sean) Cashin of Little Silver; Patricia (Kevin) Gibson of Middletown, NJ; 17 loving grandchildren and 3 wonderful great grandchildren.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife Agnes Marie Colman in 2008.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2018, from 4 to 8 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday November 29, 2018 at 9:15am at the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass to be offered at 10:30 am at St Mary's Chapel, 26 Leonardville Rd, New Monmouth, NJ. Burial will be Friday November 30, 2018 at 11 am at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated to the Central Association of the Miraculous Medal, 475 E Chelten Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19144.
